ALBANY, N.Y., November 27 – The Healthy NY website has a new software program to help New Yorkers determine if they are eligible for the health insurance program. Healthy NY is a state-sponsored health insurance program for working New Yorkers without health insurance.

TRENTON, N.J., December 20 – Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and the New Jersey state government have unveiled a plan that could provide health insurance for 15,000 more children by expanding the existing NJ FamilyCare program.

DiNapoli Uncovers Improper Medicaid Payments

ALBANY, N.Y., December 17 – Medicaid was improperly billed for over $1.3 million by a psychiatrist, according to an audit released by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. On eight separate occasions, the psychiatrist billed Medicaid for treatments lasting more than 24 hours in a single day and for patients that he never treated.

DiNapoli Audit Reveals Inflated HC Submissions to Empire Plan

ALBANY, N.Y., December 3 – Four health care facilities are under investigation by for submitting inflated insurance claims to the states Empire Plan, allegedly costing taxpayers $8 million, according to New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. The health care providers have been inappropriately waiving the out-of-pocket costs for medical services provided to state and local government employees, DiNapoli said.

ALBANY, N.Y., August 16 – Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo has issued warnings to Aetna and Cigna Healthcare, which includes United Healthcare, stating that their physician ranking programs, as currently designed, are likely to confuse or even deceive consumers. In letters to the insurers, Cuomo expressed concern about the design of the programs and requested a full justification for them.
