Abe Weinzimer co-founded DCAP Insurance in 1982 and took the company public in 1997. DCAP Insurance quickly became the largest chain of independent insurance franchises in the Northeast. In 2000 he and his original partner stepped down as President and Executive Vice President of the company. His partner left the company while Abe stayed on as a franchisee, running the five franchises he owned. In 2008 Abe Weinzimer and Stuart Greenvald bought the NY State rights to a company called Instant Tax Service. Instant Tax Service is the forth largest income tax franchise in the country, modeled after H&R Block, and is ranked #1 by entrepreneur magazine as the best franchise to purchase for under $50,000. In 2009 they sold these franchises to a few Insurance agencies and found that combining a national tax franchise with an independent insurance brokerage was a perfect business model. The extra income from selling taxes was the perfect complement to their business.

On May 1, 2009 Abe Weinzimer and Stuart Greenvald bought DCAP Insurance back, taking it from a publicly owned company back to a privately held company. Abe Weinzimer is President and Stuart Greenvald is Executive Vice President, with each owning a 50% share of the business. Their primary goal is to partner DCAP Insurance and Instant Tax Services franchises into a dual entity such as Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robbins as well as offer the tax franchise to any brokerage that wants to increase their bottom line by becoming a national tax franchise. There are currently 35 DCAP Insurance franchises and 28 Instant Tax franchises operating in NY. Instant Tax Service has 1,300 franchises operating nationwide in 31 states. It is one complete service where a client can walk in with his or her W2 and walk out with a refund check or debit card.

Instant Tax provides all the training, software and support necessary to be tax professionals. “The tax franchise is not tied to DCAP it is available to all insurance brokerages. We see what it has done for our own insurance group and we are sure it will help everyone else too,” said Abe Weinzimer In 2010, Instant Tax Service will be spending around $350,000 in TV, cable and radio advertising in the New York area. They spend millions of dollars nation wide and are determined to make New York a large part of their success. Abe Weinzimer’s story is one that started July 21, 1982 when he started DCAP Insurance. Stuart Greenvald’s career began in 1980 by opening his first sneaker store. By 1987 he expanded the chain to 5 successful locations. In 1992 he sold his interest in the sneaker stores. He moved on to be the sales manager of a prestigious luxury automobile dealership on Long Island. In 2 short years he grew the dealership into the #1 dealership of its kind in New York. In 1995 Stuart decided to go back to his roots. His Grandfather Robert and his father Jerry were both insurance professionals. He decided that the DCAP Insurance franchise system was the way to go. He quickly became the biggest franchisee in the system. He currently owns 5 DCAP Insurance and 5 Instant Tax franchises.
