TRENTON, N.J., March 9 – Two HMOs, Aetna U.S. Healthcare, and University Health Plans, have been fined for violating the states prompt payment of claims regulations under consent agreements divulged in the 2006 winter newsletter of the state Department of Insurance.

ALBANY, N.Y., March 8 – The New York State Power Authority and the Thruway Authority have been advised to stop paying health insurance premiums for their board members by state Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo. One hundred letters have also been sent to New York State authorities which have enabling statutes prohibiting the payment of health insurance benefits to board members. The authorities are all being informed that compensation for their board members is illegal.

The company plans to acquire 316,000 square feet of leased space, adding a new data technology facility, conference center, office space, and cafeteria. The renovations are expected to begin in 2007.

ALBANY, N.Y., November 16 – A Childrens Defense Fund of New York (CDF-NY) report states that the total number of uninsured children in New York State was 415,000 in 2005. The number has increased by 61,000 from 2004 to 2005, a 17 percent jump, and the first increase in a decade.
