RSL Introduces Leave Management Tool for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses

PHILADELPHIA, Pa., August 22 – Reliance Standard Life Insurance Company (RSL), a group life and group disability carrier, has introduced RSL LeaveManager, which the company describes as a web-based software application designed to administer leave and absence programs in accordance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for cases of 50 to 2,000 lives.

RSL explained that the product is developed on the platform Reliance Standard uses to administer employee leave for large cases, providing small to medium-sized businesses with many of the same benefits afforded to Fortune 500 companies.

RSL said that LeaveManager provides employers with one system to record, administer, and report many types of employee absences, whether government mandated, or employer authorized. Employers using the product can expect reduced administrative time, improved productivity and lower costs due to unscheduled absences. The company added that RSL LeaveManager provides a predictive rather than reactive approach to FMLA management by analyzing absence patterns and trends.

Available as an added service for Reliance Standard long-term disability customers, RSL said that the product is continuously updated based on changes in federal or state law, so employers maintain compliance with federal FMLA and Department of Labor wage and hour regulations, and regulations in 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Concerns about absence management are growing among smaller employers, yet few products cater to this market, said Greg Esemplare, regional assistant vice president, sales and marketing for Reliance Standard. By adding this service to our portfolio, Reliance Standard is able to provide FMLA absence management solutions to all of our applicable LTD customers, easing some of the difficulties faced by small and large businesses alike.
