Issue: 2007-02-20 Bill Would Increase Awareness of Child Health Plus♦ New York ALBANY, N.Y., February 20 – Applicants for unemployment insurance would be able to receive information on Child Health Plus Insurance under legislation introduced in the New York State Senate. The measure, introduced by Senator Caesar Trunzo (R-Suffolk), would amend the labor law to authorize the commissioner of labor to establish procedures to provide information to the applicants. The law adds a new section 541 directing the labor commissioner, in consultation with the commissioner of health, to establish the procedures about the existence and eligibility requirements of the child health plan. Trunzo said distributing information on the child health insurance plan to applicants for unemployment benefits would increase awareness and utilization of this important state-assisted program. Assemblywoman Patricia Eddington (D/WF-Suffolk) introduced the bill in the Assembly. |
