PlanetHospital Program Allows Pre/Post-Op Care in U.S., Surgery Abroad

CALABASAS, Calif., September 20 – PlanetHospital has introduced its Best of Both Worlds program, which would allow some of the nations certified surgeons to provide pre and post-op care to patients who live in the U.S., and to conduct the surgery in a foreign hospital.

Patients receive care from a world class surgeon from start to finish, only the geography of their surgery changes, explained Rudy Rupak, CEO of PlanetHospital. The program is available directly to consumers, via an employers cafeteria plan, as well as through PPOs. The current physician network is based in California, with surgeons across the country now joining the plan.

Rupak added that the offering delivers significant savings to PPOs, employers, and patients, and expands the global footprint of PlanetHospital.

He explained that, under Best of Both Worlds, physician and patient schedules are coordinated, with special consideration given to those patients requiring immediate attention. American board certified surgeons who carry malpractice insurance are available for cardiology, orthopedics, neurology, urology, gynecology, radio or surgical oncology, and general surgeries, Rupak said.

Patients may now travel to India for surgery, and will soon have options for Thailand, Singapore, and Mexico. PlanetHospital said that it also expects to have arrangements with hospitals in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Panama that will allow use of their facilities with visiting American surgeons who do not have Thai, Indian, or Mexican privileges.

When compared to domestic health care, this plan provides significant savings without compromising the quality of care or physician, noted Rupak.
