Mr. Workman is the President and CEO of the Life Insurance Council of New York, Inc. (LICONY). The award will be presented at the Round Tableís black tie event at The Union League Club on November 30, 2009. Each year the Round Table of New York presents its Lifetime Achievement Award to an individual that has made significant contributions to the insurance and financial services industry. The award recognizes individuals for their accomplishments in the areas of professional ethics, education and industry leadership.

Born and raised in Ohio, Workman received both his Bachelor of Science and Juris Doctor degrees from the Ohio State University. In 1969, he began a career with the Ohio law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP, becoming partner in 1977. He served as Chair of their Insurance Law Department until September 1999. From 1970-1973, Workman served as a Captain in the United States Army Judge Advocate General Corps. From 1973-1999, he served as legislative Counsel to the Association of Ohio Life Insurance Companies.
Workman became President and Chief Executive Officer of LICONY in September 1999. This trade organization represents the life insurance industry in New York. Workman is admitted to the bars of the states of New York and Ohio, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Military Appeals and the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Eastern Division. Workman is a Trustee of the Griffith Foundation for Insurance Education. He is a past Chair of the Life Insurance Law Committee of the American Bar Association and of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Regulatory Counsel, and he represented the ALIC in the House of Delegates of the American Bar Association. Thomas and his wife Pamela, a still life painter, have been married for 44 years. They have two children, Chris and Sarah, and two grandchildren, Massimo and Lilia. Outside of heading the largest state life insurance trade association in the United States, Workman enjoys traveling and pursues his love of classic cars, an affection that began while growing up around a car dealership with his father, a Chevrolet dealer. A history buff, Workman also enjoys reading, particularly biographies of prominent government and business leaders.
Established in 1919, The Round Table of New York was initially organized by 28 General Agents and Managers representing 22 life insurance companies. The organization seeks to raise the level of education and meaningful service to the public. Members of the Round Table of New York support the work of local, state and national organizations, including NAIFA, LUPAC, MDRT and GAMA. In addition, the organization supports the advanced education available through The American College including its LUTCF, CLU and ChFC designation programs, and every member of the Round Table of New York is also a proud member of The America College Alumni Association.
